NYC Me

"This isn't a Fairytale, This is New York City"

New York City is truly a magical place, one that I have grown up with the privilege of being so close to. The culture, the fashion, the food, and the people; everything about that city glitters. Everything about that city is enchanting. There is so much to learn from a place like NYC.

New Yorkers indulge themselves in different cultures and cuisines, and my personal favorite, Macaron shoppes! On one of my most recent adventures through the concrete jungle, I guiltily found myself stumbling into the "Maracon Cafe"located on 59th street between Madison & Park. Let me tell you, I left feeling not one bit guilty. The macarons there were to die for! And the presentation, even sweeter! I struggled a little bit when it came the time to finally open the box, but the end result was delicious and well worth the sacrifice.

Flavors from left to right: Vanilla, Peanut Butter, Pumpkin, White Chocolate Mint, Dark Chocolate, & Pumpkin again!

After my trip, I simply could not wait to get back into the city to satisfy my guilty sweet tooth. But then I discovered that on the Macaron Cafe website, you have the option of browsing flavors, or having some shipped to you all across the country! I am crossing my fingers that some tasty maracrons with this darling bow end up on my doorstep for Valentines Day!

Arguably my favorite part about visiting the city begins before I even hop in the car. Picking out what you wear for a day out on the streets of New York is definitely not a decision to be taken lightly. The streets of New York are like runways, eclectic ones at that, with thousands of artistic interpretations of the latest trend, the hottest color, or the funkiest accessory.

I chose to rock a collection of my favorite pieces, a black faux fur infinity scarf, a teal embroidered Nannette Lepore coat, and my Marc Jacobs cross-body bag. The city is also a wind tunnel, so I threw my hair up in a pony tail to avoid a devastatingly bad hair day. Side note, I obviously strutted my stuff straight over to Harry Winston. No time like the present to pick out my future engagement ring, right?

Unfortunately, other than the Classic Q Percy Marc Jacobs bag, all the other pieces I wore were out of season. Below is a picture of the Lulu faux fur scarf I found on Nordstrom that is similar, and wildly inexpensive. To it's right, a more expensive, real fur La Fiorentina version of the fur infinity.

It truly is a shame that no amount of words can describe how truly enchanting New York City can be, and I am simply not satisfied with the post for it does not do the city any justice. However, the adrenaline rush that you experience, the hustle and bustle, it is one of the only experiences in life that I have had where I have truly felt like a part of something that is colossal, catastrophic, and beautiful.

I leave you with this quote I found from Pinterest:

I Love My.... "Sunkissed" Lilly Shorts

I Love My Lilly Pulitzer Buttercup Shorts in "Sunkissed"

This summer at the ever so wonderful Lilly Pulizter Summer Sale, my beautiful and generous mother surprised me by purchasing what I think are the cutest shorts known to mankind, The Buttercup Scallop Hem Short in "Sunkissed"(!!!!) ... I died.

Needless to say, I have been using every chance I can get to show these babies off! I just cant get enough of them! The pinks and oranges are actually more neon than the print shows, making these the perfect patterned shorts for the summertime (or to cure your summertime blues on a tropical winter vacation) like I did! I mean, just look at that scallop hem line... have you ever seen anything cuter in your life?

Lilly Pulitzer, "Sunkissed", Summer 2013

Unfortunately, these shorts in the Sunkissed pattern are no longer for sale, but luckily, Lilly has kept the adorable hem around and, come summertime, I am sure they will have  many beautiful patterns to choose from! Click here to see the Buttercup Scallop Hem Short in "Multi Elephant Ears". The first time I wore them, I paired them with a cute chambray popover and my sassiest monogram necklace, but I have found that even though these shorts are neon, they pretty much can go with anything in my wardrobe. So versatile  stylish, and bright!

If you are like me, and you just cant get enough of this pattern and its colors, I guarantee you will love Orly's "Fancy Fuschia" nail polish. I am serious when I say it is one of the most perfect polishes I have ever found. The color is bright, the finish is shiny, and the polish itself is so opaque, you really only need one coat! Pair it with a top coat of your choice, and your nails are going to look flawless.

I wear this color everywhere, with everything, for all four seasons. Orly, please never discontinue this color, because my happiness will follow suit.

Cafes and Spa Days

"There's nothing quite as blissful as sipping on a cinnamon
cappuccino with a fresh manicure, awaiting an oxygen facial"

Being snowed in is never as exciting for those of us from the north, so I always feel obligated to treat myself when all I see is mountains of white.

A salon & spa near me is my ideal snow day get away. They play the most wonderful "zen" music that just puts you to sleep rather instantaneously. So obviously, I ran over in my comfiest Anthropologie sweater, dying for one of their delicious cinnamon cappuccinos and flawless manicures.

My manicurist recommended Essie's "Charleston", a color that I have had the hardest time finding in stores since! It was the most beautiful rosey, shimmery brown, and it made me feel so wintery and glamourous. I found a bottle for sale online here, otherwise, I unfortunately think the shade has been discontinued.

Essie "Charleston"

Since this flawless manicure, I have been on the hunt for the best brown polish & shimmer combo. Recently, I have been pairing Essie's "Hot Coco" with Butter's "The 444" and have been receiving so many compliments! It is the perfect manicure to add a little sass and sparkle to leggings and a big comfy, cable knit sweater!

Note: "Hot Coco" is lighter than the bottle depicts, the color featured in the manicure picture is more accurate.

For an at home spa get away, light some Tocca candelinas and check out iTunes Radio station "Chill Out- Ambient", soothing and free!
Stay cozy in the snow!
